The fourth instalment of the legendary Marulasoulfood series comes from Madrid-based Briton Roger ‘Chip’ Wickham, one third of Latin groovers Malena. “Feelin’ Alright” is a rare groove stomper featuring Emma Ellis on the mic, Dominic Buckley on drums, Dan ‘Bootsy’ Broad on guitar, Morgan Pugh on bass and piano and of course the man himself on sax and flute.

Some background info:
Chip Wickham has worked as a producer in Manchester’s infamous Moolah Rouge Studios and has written, produced and re-mixed for labels such as Freestyle, Kingstreet, Ministry of Sound, Hed Kandi, Mr Bongo, Universal, Sony and Soulfuric. His sax and flute credits include Nightmares on Wax, The New Mastersounds, Aim, Rae & Christian, Roy Ayres, Badly Drawn Boy, Jimpster, Grupo X, The Resin Dogs, The Sweet Vandals and the soundtrack to the Guy Ritchie movie “Snatch”.
As of late he has been mostly keeping himself busy with Malena (with Dan Broad and Susana Montero a.k.a. Malena, on Freestyle Records) and his solo work.

El número 4 de la ya legendaria serie Marulasoulfood (esta vez, la receta – pollo huitlacoche – en la contraportada es de La Catrina de Madrid) viene del británico afincado en Madrid, Roger ‘Chip’ Wickham, tercera parte de los Latin groovers Malena. Feelin’ Alright es un delicioso corte de rare groove con Emma Ellis en el micro, Dominic Buckley en la batería, Dan ‘Bootsy’ Broad en la guitarra, Morgan Pugh en el bajo y el piano y, naturalmente, el mismo Chip tocando la flauta y el saxo.

Un repaso sobre su trayectoria:
Chip Wickham ha trabajado como productor en los famosos estudios Moolah Rouge de Manchester y ha escrito, producido y remezclado música para sellos tan diversos como Freestyle, Kingstreet, Ministry of Sound, Hed Kandi, Mr Bongo, Universal, Sony y Soulfuric. I normally only listen to electronic music, but after listening to this album months ago I found it kept calling out to me. Now after purchasing it I can see why.
